Professional Robotics Course for Adults in Adelaide Learn the Technology Behind Autonomous Robots
The Adelaide Robotics and Computer Science Academy (ARCSA) is proud to introduce its first robotics course designed specifically for adults.
Whether you are an engineer, software developer, IT professional, teacher, university student, maker, or simply fascinated by robotics and artificial intelligence, this course provides a practical, structured pathway into one of the world’s fastest-growing technologies.
Unlike traditional programming courses, this is not about writing software in isolation. You will learn how intelligent robots perceive the world, make decisions, and interact with their environment using the same technologies employed by research laboratories, universities, and robotics companies worldwide.
Classes are held face-to-face every Wednesday evening from 6:30 pm to 8:30 pm at the Lockleys Sporting Facility in Adelaide.
Why Study Robotics?
Modern robots are transforming industries including manufacturing, logistics, healthcare, agriculture, mining, defence, autonomous vehicles, and space exploration.
Behind these robots is a common software platform: ROS 2 (Robot Operating System 2).
ROS 2 has become the international standard for professional robotics development. It is used by researchers, universities, and companies worldwide to build autonomous mobile robots, robotic arms, warehouse automation systems, service robots, and autonomous vehicles.
Learning ROS 2 means learning the language of modern robotics.
Who Is This Course For?
This course has been designed for adults who are curious about robotics and artificial intelligence, including:
-
- Engineers
- Software developers
- IT professionals
- Teachers
- University students
- STEM educators
- Makers and hobbyists
- Career changers
- Anyone with a genuine interest in technology
No previous robotics experience is required.
A Structured Learning Journey
Rather than jumping straight into advanced robotics, we build the necessary foundations first.
Our learning pathway includes internationally recognised courses developed by The Construct Robotics Institute. You will start by learning the following subjects:
- Linux for Robotics (9 hours)
- Python for Robotics (11 hours)
- ROS 2 Basics (20 hours)
- Robot navigation (20 hours)
- Perception (18 hours)
- Computer vision (18 hours)
- Arm Kinematics (18 hours)
- Artificial intelligence (19 hours)
- Simulation (20 hours)
- Security (8 hours)
- And many others
Those courses above are just the start. Every stage builds naturally upon the previous one. Download a copy of the complete curriculum here.
Learn With Guidance, Not Just Videos
Why attend this course? Because reading documentation, searching forums, watching videos, and mastering robotics are very different things.
Learning face-to-face means you benefit from:
- Expert guidance whenever you become stuck
- Clear explanations of complex concepts
- Practical demonstrations
- Structured weekly progress
- Accountability that keeps you moving forward
- Discussions with other learners
- Real-world examples from professional robotics
- Immediate answers instead of hours of searching online
The curriculum provides the content.
ARCSA provides the teaching, mentoring, practical experience, and learning environment that transforms knowledge into real skills. Learn more about our hardware and our software.
Learn on Real Robots
One of the biggest challenges in robotics education is moving beyond simulation.
At ARCSA, you will work with our BotBox Robotics Lab, combining virtual simulations with physical robots equipped with professional sensors and hardware.
Depending on the stage of the course, you will work with technologies such as:
-
- Mobile robots
- LiDAR
- RGB cameras
- Depth cameras
- Robot grippers
- Robotic arms
- Conveyor systems
- Robot networking
- Embedded electronics (e.g. IMU)
- ROS 2 running on real hardware
Understanding how software behaves on physical robots is one of the most valuable skills a robotics engineer can develop.
Powered by Industry-Leading Curriculum
ARCSA uses a curriculum developed by The Construct Robotics Institute, one of the world’s leading providers of online robotics education.
The Construct’s platform is trusted by 100+ universities, as well as robotics companies and thousands of engineers worldwide. Since 2015, more than 100,000 learners have gained their Certificates from The Construct. The institute is the official education provider for ROS and ROS Industrial.
At ARCSA, that curriculum is enhanced through:
- Face-to-face instruction
- Practical demonstrations
- Small class sizes
- Individual support
- Access to professional robotics equipment
- Local mentoring throughout your learning journey
