At what age can students enrol at Adelaide Robotics and Computer Science Academy?

The minimum age is 7. In the past, we trialled various ages, such as six, but after assessing the quality and amount of content they could learn, we decided to enrol only students who were at least seven years old at the time of booking. We know some students start coding younger, but that’s the exception. One aspect we discovered in practice was that younger students could not maintain concentration for extended periods, so their attention span was too short for STEM classes. The other issue was that they needed help comprehending some abstract notions, no matter how much we broke down the content. Therefore, after studying the results, we decided to offer our courses only to students at least eight years old.
How long does it take to complete a course?

The Robotics Course is designed to be completed in approximately one year, though the pace may vary for individual students.

The Artificial Intelligence and Robotics Course is an ongoing program with an evolving curriculum, regularly updated to reflect the latest developments in coding, AI, and related technologies. Students continually develop the most relevant and future-ready skills.
My child is old enough. Can they join the Artificial Intelligence and Robotics Course straight away?
Students can join the Advanced class based on experience, not age. Admission to the Computer Science Course is only possible through two distinct pathways:

Upon graduation from the Robotics Course or

Upon passing a test designed to demonstrate a solid understanding of the Python programming language. The test can be organised by request, Monday to Friday, after 6 pm.

Robotics Course: $27.50 per student, per session, paid in advance for the entire term (pro rata). If you don’t have a Windows computer (7, 8, 10, 11) or a Mac, you may rent a laptop from us for $10 per Term.

Artificial Intelligence and Robotics Course: $30 per student, per session, paid in advance for the entire term (pro rata). If you don’t have a Windows computer (7, 8, 10, 11) or a Mac, you may rent a laptop from us for $10 per Term.
Can we pay weekly?
Does my child need prior experience?

For the Robotics Course, the students are not required to have any prior experience.

The prerequisites for the Artificial Intelligence and Robotics (AIR) Course are completion of the Robotics Course or demonstrated knowledge of the Python programming language.
